Most of your melee is there as a back up. Archery and skirmishing is pretty much all you need. Even if he gets free armies at the start. But just remember the nerfed economy applies to all so it will also slow the other guy down too. Everything should work the same except for managing your economy this will probably slow you down. And from here just try to achieve your campaign objectives. Giving back recaptured settlements is the key to this.
Once Dol Guldur is secured I usually try to take the fight to the OOTM while building alliances particularly with Gondor/Rohan and helping them out. Once these are down just shoot everything else to pieces. Melee might come in handy here and silvan spearmen are good against cavalry so leading the nazgul into them is a possible tactic. The garrison script will probably include trolls but certainly if the nazgul from dol guldur didn't die from raiding lothlorien beforehand you will encounter him here making trolls and nazgul priority targets. Then next is to try to take Dol Guldur (buildup either the mirkwood army or an army from lorien). You're armies won't need melee so much so you could leave those guarding your settlements. And trying to do the same from Lothlorien while fending of raids from Dol Guldur and the OOTM You probably won't get too much from here though since you will be mostly defending. From the beginning I would take Legolas and whatever units he has and retake mirkwood mostly by tricking the enemy to sally. My strategy consists of securing your realm at the start, then helping out Gondor/ Rohan, then taking the fight to Mordor.
